About this guide
How Up Close is paid for
Up Close is an independent guide to Metro Vancouver casinos. It earns a commission from paid links on the home page, each marked Ad.
Where the Ad links are
Paid links appear on the home page only. Each one is marked Ad. There are three: one in the menu, one in a block just below the first screen and one near the end of the page. No venue page carries a paid link.
All three lead to the same private online casino partner. The site earns a commission from that partner. The partner can change, so this page does not name it or describe the operator.
That partner is not PlayNow.com. In British Columbia, gambling is legal only when the provincial government runs it. PlayNow.com is run by BCLC, a Crown corporation, and is the only legal online gambling site in B.C. The partner is not licensed by the province.
What is never paid
Venues never pay this site. Neither do TransLink, PlayNow, BCLC or the help services the guide points to. Links to a venue's own pages, where the hours, parking and transit facts are checked, are not paid links. The site offers readers no rewards, and nothing is given for following a link.
No account is needed to read any page. Up Close has no forms, no comments and no newsletter. It collects nothing about readers. A theme choice is kept only in the browser tab, nowhere else.
